Michael Joseph Green, 65, of Dallas passed away Monday, November 29, 2010 at the Wellstar Douglas Hospital after an extended battle with cancer. Born August 18, 1945 in Columbia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Joseph Adriane Green and the late Jean Martlin Owen Green.
The son of a military family, Mike grew up in Valdosta before moving to the Atlanta area. He spent his entire professional career in recreational camper sales. At one time he even owned a recreational camper dealership. Mike had most recently been employed with PECO Campers and had spent much of his career with Coachman.
Mike had been a lifeguard on the military base and at the YMCA in his younger days. He helped start one of the original Boys Clubs in downtown Atlanta. Mike loved to BBQ, loved hunting, loved camping, and enjoyed watching the old black and white movies, especially old westerns. He also loved betting on NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife, Edie Green of Dallas; his children and their spouses, Scott Green and Amy Weldon of Milledgeville, Meg Green and Shane Helms, Barry and Melissa Mosteller of Dallas, and Shannon and Eddie Emory of Ft. Rucker, Alabama; his grandchildren, Shelby Elizabeth Marie Green, Maddison Helms, Katelee Russell, Gavin Mosteller, Peyton Mosteller, Dakota Emory, Charlie Mosteller, and Bryanna Emory; his sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Larry Green of Valdosta; his brothers and sister-in-law, Ricky and Cathy Green and Jimmy Green, all of Valdosta; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Charles Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 � 11 a.m. Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
