Mr. Mike Tate, age 58, of 105 Melody lane N.W. Rome, GA, died Saturday, December 27, 2008 in a local hospital.



Mr. Tate was born in Floyd County, GA, on December 26, 1950, the son of the late Joe Tate and Eva Storey Tate. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Tate retired from North Georgia Equipment Company after twenty-two years of service. Also, he was a member of the #613 Local Union with Lawson Electric. Mr. Tate was an avid football, baseball, and Nascar Fan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tate was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lynn Tate on March 4, 2008.



Mr. Tate is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Virginia Hemric Tate to whom he was married on December 21, 1971; a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. Joey and Paula Tate of Rome; a brother, Sid Tate of Silver Creek; two grandchildren, Nick and Andrew Tate both of Rome; a nephew and his wife, Bryan and Marsha Tate of Armuchee; a niece and her husband, Brook and James Shell of Silver Creek; a great-nephew, Lewis Shell of Silver Creek; two great-nieces, Sydney and Carson Shell both of Silver Creek.



Funeral services will be today, December 30, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, and Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Norman Money and Rev. Ronnie Newberry officiating.

Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Garden with full military honors preformed by The American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel by 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday: Ted Hicks, Bryan Tate, and James Shell, Brett Williams, Jay Graham and Nick Tate.
