Mildred Flemister

Mrs. Mildred Williams Flemister, age 90, of Rome, GA, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009.



Mrs. Flemister was born in Floyd County, GA on May 16, 1919, the daughter of the late Henry and Virginia Smith. Mrs. Flemister was a loyal and dedicated member of the Democratic Party and held various offices locally with the party. She worked for a number of years with Rich�s and at the Southern Shoe Store. Mrs. Flemister was a member of the Second Avenue United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband of forty years, Arthur T. Williams, by her second husband, James L. Flemister; son, Arthur Jerome Williams, granddaughter, Autumn Grace Wood and by a brother, Henry H. Smith, Jr.



Survivors include a son, Henry I. Williams of Boston, MA; daughter, Julia Mercer of Seattle, WA; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; step-children, Jimmy Flemister and Gayle Adams also survive.



A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, December 11, 2009, at 5:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Tom McElroy and Rev. Warren Jones officiating.



The family will receive friends Friday from 3:00 P.M. until the funeral hour in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Second Avenue United Methodist Church, 801 E. Second Avenue, Rome, Ga. 30161. GA. At other hours the family may be contacted at the residence of Joyce Ledbetter, 105 Northwood Drive (North Hills) Rome, Ga.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers: Bradley Padgett, Ronald Lovell, Kent Mathis, John Southern, Dennis Jacobs, Kevin Ogles, Hugh Padgett and W. Gene Richardson.
