Mrs. Mildred Annette Harper Gurley, age 63, of Rome, GA, died Sunday, October 11, 2009, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Gurley was born in Floyd County, GA on December 5, 1945, the daughter of the late Joel J. Harper and Mildred Roe Harper. She attended Armuchee Church of God for many years and was a homemaker. Mrs. Gurley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. In addition to her parents Mrs. Gurley was preceded in death by a nephew, Anthony Young.
Survivors include her husband to whom she was married on June 29, 1974, Larry Everett Gurley; a son of West, TN; a daughter and son-in-law, Cassie and David Nicholson of Rome; two grandchildren, LaShonda Massey and Daniel Nicholson; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Harper Young; a niece, Jaime Tucker and her husband, Richard Tucker; a great-niece; and two great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Gurley will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Izell officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel by 1:30 P.M.: David Nicholson, Daniel Nicholson, Ron Winslett, Richard Thacker, Steven Chamlee, and Dennis Phillips.
