Mildred Riggins

April 26, 1923 — August 2, 2007

Mrs. Mildred Lucille Goss Riggins, age 84, of Sunrise Nursing Home, Marietta, GA, formerly of the Old Summerville Road, Rome, GA died Thursday morning, August 2, 2007 in a Cobb County medical center.

Mrs. Riggins was born on April 26, 1923,in Sublinga, Ga the daughter of the late Henry Morris Goss and Louella Hawkins Goss. She moved to LIidale in her early childhood until her marriage. Mrs. Riggins was a member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Etowah Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Andrew Riggins on June 30, 1998 and by two sisters, Julia Gosnell and Dorothy Hogan.

Survivors include a brother, William Henry Goss, Austell, GA; one sister, Ruby Nelson, Decatur, GA; A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Riggins will be held Saturday at 11:30 am at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Hampton officiating. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Mr. J. Parnick Jennings Sr. in charge of graveside rites.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the funeral hour on Saturday.

Deacons from Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers and include, Cliff Fuqua, Jerry Coffman, James Cordle, Arvin Holsomback, David Duke and Jason Coffman. Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church, 735 Old Summerville Road, NW, Rome, GA, 30165.
