Mrs. Myra Lelia Teems, age 83, of Kingston, widow of the late Lewis Teems died March 2, 2016 at her residence. Born in Taylorsville on September 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Harrison Gentry and Jewel Cline Gentry.
Mrs. Teems was a member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly in Rockmart. She was a woman of many talents that was blessed with a green thumb. She was an avid gardener with people coming every season to see her beautiful flowers. She owned Cartersville Ceramic Shop for many years and taught ceramics to many of her lifelong friends. Mrs. Teems love to sew and made many beautiful quilts along with being famous for her coconut cakes. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lewis Teems; and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Darlene Watkins (David) of Euharlee; her sons, Ricky Teems (Maria) and Steve Teems and companion, Dale Watkins all of Euharlee; her sisters, Dorothy Satcher of Dalton and Magdalene Brookshire of Euharlee; her brothers, Pete Gentry and Weldon Gentry of Cartersville and Olan Gentry of Dalton; 5 grandchildren, Matt Harper of Rome, Adam Harper of Rome, Tiffany Teems (Chris), Britni Teems (Dustin) and Kaitlin Stone of Cartersville; 7 great-grandchildren, Sunshine Harper of Rome, Orion Harper and Kaley Harper all of Rome, Farrah, Maggie, Daisy and Sophia all of Cartersville; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2016 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Houston Eaton officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Hugh Teems, Clinton Smith, Danny Brookshire, Lenny Cartwright, Bruce Gentry and David Gentry. David Watkins and Larry Satcher will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to send a special thanks to her caregiver, Felicia Nelson and to everyone that visited her during her illness. She will be missed.
