Myrtle Miller

June 29, 1920 — July 22, 2011

Myrtle Marie Miller, 91, of Cartersville passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at Maple Ridge Healthcare Center. Born June 29, 1920 in Kahoka, MO she was the daughter of the late Samuel Edward Stewart and the late Mary Mae Kinard Stewart. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Eugene Blacksmith; and her second husband, Robert F. Miller; her brothers, Wayne Stewart, and Walter Stewart; and her lifelong friend, Rachel McWhorter.



Myrtle had been employed as an apartment manager until her retirement. She was known as a very independent woman who loved crossword puzzles and vanilla ice cream. She made doll houses in her spare time and like to write in her journal daily. Myrtle was able to travel the world through the military and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Dallas.



Survivors include her children, Fred Eugene Blacksmith, Robert Edward Blacksmith, and Mary Lee Blacksmith; her brother, Charles Stewart of Kahoka, MO; her sister-in-law, Irma Miller of Othello, WA; her very dear friends, Ann and Jim Kashimaki of Kellogg, ID; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great grandchildren.



Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Sammy Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.



Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Rickie Blacksmith, Daryl Blacksmith, Harold Blacksmith, Ferrell Blacksmith, Robert Carter, and Rodney Garfield. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home at 2:15 p.m.



The family will receive friends from 4 � 8 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd. Cartersville, GA 30120.
