Neal G. Drummond, 57, of Cartersville died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at his residence. Born April 29, 1952 in Ringgold, he was the son of the late James Henry Drummond, Sr. and the late Lillian Loraine Gunnin Drummond. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Douglas Kramer.
Neal had been employed most recently as a truck driver and has been a mechanic most of his life. He is most known as a local dirt track racing legend where he had won many championships in the pony stocks division. Neal was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Sandra Drummond; his children, Neal Anthony Drummond, James Drummond and his wife, Amy Tison, and Angel Michelle Teems and her husband, Preston; his grandchildren, Chassity Michelle Drummond, Cheyenne Nicole Drummond, Katelyan Denise Teems, Cierra Lynn Glover, Lillian Grace Teems, Nicole Taylor Drummond, and Paige Hazel Drummond; his sister, Gracie Carolyn Clary; his brothers, James Henry Drummond, Jr. and his wife, Dora, Frank Andrew Drummond, and Phillip Olan Drummond, Sr. and his wife, Deborah; his sister-in-law, Charlotte Arnesen; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Kenneth Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in Georgia National Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Carl Boyd Post #42.
Serving as pallbearers will be Neal Drummond, Phil Drummond, Jr., Scott Drummond, Roland Clary, Erik Arnesen, Kris Arnesen, and Preston Teems. Honorary pallbearers will be James Drummond, Jr., Frank Drummond, and Phil Drummond, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 4 � 9 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
