Miss Nellie "Nell" Grace Dale, age 85, of 2631 North Druid Hills Rd, NE, Atlanta, GA, died January 26, 2008, in a nursing home.
Miss Dale was born in Fulton County, GA, on July 7, 1922, the daughter of the late George Edward Dale and Nell Gower Dale. She was a member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church where she served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. Miss Dale graduated from Shorter College in 1944 and after many years of dedicated service retired from being a school teacher and a principal. She taught first grade students at Celanese and Model Elementary. Miss Dale became principal at North Heights and then went to LaGrange, GA to work in the Head start program. She went to Griffin, GA to be principal of ten kindergarten classes and then taught in Clayton County. After retirement Miss Dale helped out with Garden Lakes Elementary School. Also, Miss Dale took care of her parents and her sister. In addition to her parents Miss Dale is preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Belle Venable and Evelyn Webb and a brother, Frank Dale.
Miss Dale is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, William Edward and Eloise Dale of Atlanta, GA; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Dale of Smyrna, GA; two nieces, Janet Quillin of Memphis, TN and Susan Wilkes and her husband, Edward of Lexington, SC and five nephews, Billy Dale and his wife, Beth of Atlanta, GA, Charles Webb of Atlanta, GA, Larry Webb of Atlanta, GA, Patrick Webb of TX, and Frank Dale, Jr. of Atlanta, GA.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 28, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. James Quillin officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery.
Miss Dale will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Monday by 1:30 P.M.: Billy Dale, Ed Wilkes, Jeremy Dale, Todd Abney, and Larry Webb.
