Nellie Mae Gayton, age 77 of Cartersville Ga, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021.
Nellie was born September 9, 1943, to the late William and Magdaline Hite. She was a member of Raccoon Creek Baptist Church Family.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Shelia Gayton and Sue Silver, and her brothers, Eugene Hite, and Ronnie Hite.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Billy Gayton, her children Vickie (Doug) Hartsfield, Jeffery (Diane) Gayton, Michael (Jenny) Gayton, Tommy (Lynn) Gayton, Timmy (Laurie) Gayton, Linda (Richard) Peace, Terri (Justin) Hartness, Carla Moore, 25 Grandkids, 41 Great Grandkids, and 1 Great-great grandkid, 2 sisters, Ovaline Patterson, Barbara Ann Haynes, Numerous Brother-in-laws, and Sister-in-laws.
She was affectionately known to her family as Memaw and was dearly loved. She loved to cook and feed everyone. No one ever went hungry with her around. She loved her "Stories", game shows, and old TV shows. She always looked forward to the annual mountain trip with all her kids.
Nellie loved her family fiercely. She loved to celebrate each milestone and beamed with pride at each accomplishment her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids achieved.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Patrick Miller, and Reverend James Black. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffery Gayton, Michael Gayton, Tommy Gayton, Timmy Gayton, Doug Hartsfield, Richard Peace, and Justin Hartness. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Gayton, Brandon Gayton, Jerry Gayton, Jason Hayes, Jesse Hartsfield, Hayes Peace, and Troy Hartness.
