Nellie Pickel

Nellie Mulkey Pickel, 87, of Cartersville passed away Thursday, September 9, 2010 at her residence. Born February 12, 1923 in Huntsville, Alabama she was the daughter of the late Delia Caroline Humphrey and the late Nebraska Eugene Mulkey. She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Mark Joseph Pickel; and her son, Joel Pickel.



Nellie was employed as a bookkeeper for Nelson�s City Tire and Auto until her retirement. She was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church, and served as their pianist for forty-two years. Nellie was also a member of the Joy Club and the Baptist Women�s Association.



Survivors include her son and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Karen Pickel, and Audrey Pickel, her grandchildren and their spouses, Shane and Lisa Pickel, Kevin and Loretta Pickel, Kyle and Stacy Pickel, Kaitlyn Pickel, and Levi Pickel; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a special niece and caretaker, Melvelyn Graham.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Duvall and the Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.



Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Copeland, Donnie Copeland, Tony Payne, William Pickel, Grady Holmes, and Jerry Prewett. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home by 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacon�s of Friendship Baptist Church.



The family received friends from 5 � 9 on Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
