Nelson Newton

Mr. Nelson J. Newton, 60, of White, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Cartersville Heights Care & Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 13, 1953 in Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York, he was a son of the late Jay Nelson Newton and the late Marie Margaret Vanderplate Newton. Mr. Newton was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He enjoyed wildlife, birds, and hunting for fossils and arrowheads. He also loved the ocean.

Survivors include his wife Darlene Newton; son, Matthew Newton of Cartersville; sisters, Katherine Barreiro and her husband Frank of New Port Richey, FL, Jean Hazard and her husband Don of Norwalk, CT, Linda Green and her husband Ron of Sound Beach, Long Island, NY, and Elizabeth Taggart and her husband Vinnie of Wading River, Long Island, NY; brothers, Richard Newton of New York City, and Daniel Newton of Duncannon, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Monsignor Daniel Stack officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
