Nile C.M. Hill, Sr., 89, of Cartersville heard the call of the trumpet and Taps sounding him home on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at his residence. Born January 19, 1921 in Lorain, Ohio, he was the son of the late C.M. Hill and the late Myrtle Lorain Jones Hill. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Erwin, David, and Julian; and his sisters Myrtle Mae, and Phoebe.
Nile spent his youth working on his father�s farm in Birmingham, Ohio and then in Amherst, Ohio where he graduated from Amherst High School. He served his country in the United States Army. Shortly before leaving for World War II, Nile married the love of his life, Mildred Ruth Beachler in June of 1942. Stationed in France, he served on the frontlines and participated in the invasion of Germany landing on Omaha beach.
Discharged from the Army in 1946, he worked as a Tool and Die man for the Nordson Corporation and was also an honored wood crafter. Nile served as the president of the Southeastern Arts and Crafts Guild, and was an active member of Faith Baptist Church. He resided in Green Valley, Arizona for twenty-four years, before moving to Cartersville in 2002.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Mildred Ruth Beachler Hill; his sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Nile C.M. Hill, Jr. and Phyllis of Elyria, Ohio, and Dennis Hill, Sr. and Pam of Cartersville; and his sister, Rosette Bush of Elyria, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel.
