Nina Pye

March 31, 1908 — December 5, 2008

Mrs. Nina Williams Pye, age 100, of Rome, GA, died Friday, December 5, 2008, in a local hospital.



Mrs. Pye was born on March 31, 1908, the daughter of the late Richard Smith Williams and Minnie Magdalene Williams. She moved to Rome in 1925. Mrs. Pye was a member of North Broad Baptist Church since 1925 and a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class, WMU, Triple F, and for seventeen years served with the Wednesday family night meal program. She taught Sunday school in the children�s department for many years. Also, was a member of the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 Ladies Auxiliary and the Dogwood Garden Club. In addition to her parents Mrs. Pye was preceded in death by her husband, William Jefferson Pye, to whom she was married to on December 25, 1923; a son-in-law, Ken Trotzke; a sister, Blanche Payne; and two brothers, Thurman Williams and Desmond Williams.



Mrs. Pye is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Wilma Trotzke; several brothers and sisters; grandchildren, Carolyn and her husband, Tony Lombard, John Trotzke, and Kathy Farris; great-grandchildren, Lance and his wife, Natalie Lombard, Adam and his wife, Regina Lombard, and Lauren and Miranda Farris; great-great-grandchildren, Chloe, Christian, Olivia, and Connor Lombard. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



Funeral services will be held Monday, December 8, 2008, at 3:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, and Miller Funeral Home with Dr. Tony Brooks, Rev. Katrina Brooks, and Rev. Horace Stewart officiating. Entombment will follow in the Oaknoll Mausoleum.



The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, and Miller Funeral Home.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel by 2:30 P.M. on Monday: Roy Echols, Jerry Minge, Tommy Stephens, Billy Quarles, Larry Meeks, and J.D. Nolan.
