Mrs. Nora Lue Shannon, age 86, of 190 Beard Dr. NE, Rome, GA, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006, in a local hospital.Mrs. Shannon was born in Heard County on March 15, 1919, the daughter of the late Quiller Buchanan and Mary Ella Parker Kight. She worked at Dellinger's Inc., Celanese Fiber Corporation, Rome Manufacturing and retired from Fox Manufacturing after twenty-five years of service. Mrs. Shannon was a member of West Rome Baptist Church and was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. She was very strong willed, independent, and a very dedicated friend who loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shannon was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Shannon, on January 19, 1990, to whom she was married on February 26, 1949; four brothers, Wilford Dewey Kight, Ray Emerson Kight, Warren Edd Kight, and Wennit Coolidge Kight; and three sisters, Inez Eulline Hammond, Lottie Mae Daniel, and Ruthie Lee Clements.Mrs. Shannon is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Kenneth Womack of Rome, GA, two grandchildren, Brent Womack of Rome, GA, and Lcpl. Blake Womack currently stationed in San Diego, CA (USMC) and his wife, Jennifer of Summerville, GA; and a sister, Mary Leat Kight of Rome, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10, 2006, at 2:00 P.M. Friday in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Kenneth Kight giving the eulogy and Rev. Ken Oates officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.Mrs. Shannon will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Friday by 1:30 PM: Larry Clements, Jimmy Clements, Danny Daniel, Kenneth Kight, Tim McGowan, and Roger McGowan.Please join Mrs. Shannon's family in honoring her life by visiting www.jenningsfuneralhome.com to post tributes and share memories.
