O. "Ray" Parker

O. "Ray" Parker, 84, of Cartersville passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Kathy Cares Hospice of Cartersville.

Born in Fort Payne, Alabama on September 13, 1928 he was the son of the late William Grover Parker and the late Lillie Mae Roberts Parker. He was also preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years Ethel Lee Parker. Ray joined the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War having served his country in the 1st Calvary Division. He was later employed as an electrical planner for Lockheed. Ray was an avid gardener and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Elaine Richardson of Jonesboro, Delores Gibboney of Flowery Branch and Jennifer Morgan of Cartersville; his sister, Mary Moon of Rome; his brother, Lawson Parker of Rome; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Floyd Memory Gardens in Rome with the Reverend Ken Hinkley officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
