Omie Whitener

Omie Whitener, 96, of Cartersville Georgia, passed away on January 13, 2023 at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center.

Born on November 6, 1926, she is the daughter of the late Harvey Whitener and Nora Whitener. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Whitener; daughters, Viva Jewel Whitener and Martha Orton; son-in-law, Floyd Ponder; as well as several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her children. Liz Ponder, Nancy Young (Jimmy), and Jackie Whitener; son-in-law, James Orton; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2023 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Parnick Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Byron Young, Gunner Kreczmer, Shane Copeland, Shannon Copeland, Cody Copeland, Corey Copeland, Nathan Linley, Zachary Whitener, and BJ Raines.

The family would like to recognize the following people for their friendship to Omie and the privilege she had ironing for them: Parnick Jennings, Randy Shaw, Jake Cochran, Tom Whitehead, Robert "Shorty" Crowe, Donna Weaver, Gewene Womack, Amy Toole, Joy Stone, Von Crenshaw, and Greg & Christy Smith; as well as special friends, Shelby Baker and Jerry Bishop.
