Opal Hilliard

November 11, 1929 — April 4, 2010

Opal Nell Hilliard, 80, of Taylorsville passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center. Born November 11, 1929 in Rome, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Boyd Towe and the late Willie Bishop Towe. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Helen McKamey and July Elaine Waits; her brother, Lloyd Towe; and her sister, Martha Sue Duncan.



Mrs. Hilliard was a member of Mountain View Holiness Church and enjoyed shopping, riding around, camping and gardening.



Survivors include her husband of eleven years, Albert Lee Hilliard of Taylorsville; her sons and daughter-in-law, Ray Waits of Newnan and Harold and Lily Waits of Rome; her daughters and son-in-law, Marie Fowler of Cartersville and Bonnie and Rolando Garcia of Rome; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Jessie and Sheila Ballew of Conyers; three half-sisters, Imma Jean Gerald of Dawsonville, Linda Howard of Rome, and Jewel Mae Pugh of Rome, 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Marvin Waters and Pastor Grover Hilliard officiating. Burial will follow in the Cassville Cemetery.



Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Miller, Rolando Garcia, Albert Martin Hilliard, Anthony Dupree, Phillip Bagley, and Wayne Locklear. Randy Miller, Jackie Waits, Jr. and David Miller will serve as honorary pallbearers. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
