Mrs. Pamela Ponder, aged 49, of Acworth passed away on Wednesday, October 15th, 2014 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born October 18th, 1964 in Norwalk, CT, she was the daughter of B. William Plotkin and Maxine Stancil Plotkin.
Pam loved people, all people - and she never met a stranger. Always caring and attentive to the needs of everyone around her, Pam also had a deep love for animals. She could not, and never did turn away anyone or any of God's creatures in need. She will be warmly remembered as a generous and gracious woman.
Pam's early years were spent growing up in Fairfield, CT where she attended the Timothy Dwight grammar School and Tomlinson Junior High School. At age 15, she travelled to Suffield, CT to attend Suffield Academy, where she graduated in 1982. For her college choice, Pam looked for an opportunity to attend a school with a hometown feeling, and she chose Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. Pam graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
After college Pam turned her enthusiasm and "sunshine personality" to further her career in kitchen design. After years of apprenticeship in CT, in 1995 Pam moved back south to Georgia and went to work for Lehman Architectural Woodworks, where she met her future husband, Bryce Ponder. Pam and Bryce married on June 27th, 1998, and started their own business specializing in custom millwork and cabinetry. Pamela was a homemaker and a kitchen designer with boundless enthusiasm. Twice Pam won First Place for her kitchen designs in Atlanta Remodeling Magazine.
Pam took great pride in her work and personal accomplishments, but nowhere did her love shine through as clearly and strongly as it did with her sons, Phillip Arthur Ponder, born on Thanksgiving Day, 1998, and William Walter Ponder who was born on Christmas Day, 2000. From the day they were born, Pam and Bryce dedicated themselves to their children wholeheartedly.
In 2008, Pamela became a fulltime mother and homemaker, devoting herself to her husband and two loving sons. Memorial Services will be conducted by Reverend Joseph Postell at 4:00 PM Saturday October 18th, 2014 in the chapel of the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
