Mrs. Patty Linda Holbrook McElrath Cox, 65, of Pearson Road, Rome, Georgia, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 14, 2008 at her home.

Mrs. Cox was born October 25, 1942 in Floyd County a daughter of Nora Lee Kelly Holbrook and the late H.A. Holbrook. Along with her father she is also preceded in death by her first husband; and a daughter, Selene Renee McElrath.

She was a member of the Mount Alto Baptist Church in Rome, and prior to becoming disabled was employed at the Main Elementary School as a Secretary. Mrs. Cox loved her family dearly and loved her horses, dogs, and cats.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband, Randall Ray Cox, to whom she was married December 29, 1990 of the residence; daughters and son-in-law, Melinda and Bill Johnson, Kayla Ray Williams both of Rome, and Krista Paige Cox of Cedartown; mother, Nora Holbrook of Rome; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard and Vickie Holbrook, and Ronnie Holbrook all of Rome; grandchildren, Haley Anne Johnson, Rick Johnson, Alexis Williams, Tristin Millsap, Noah Cox, and Marin Cox; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nancy and Paul L. Cox of Cedartown; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and loving friends also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Patty Cox will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at 3:00 pm from the Mount Alto Baptist Church with associate pastor, Reverend Phil Patterson officiating. The family will also would like for anyone that would like to share their memories of Mrs. Cox to speak.

The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 2:00 pm until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Cox to the American Diabetes Association, Atlanta/North Georgia Office, and Three Corporate Square, Suite 120, Atlanta, Georgia 30329.
