Paul Thomas Payton, 72, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Born on April 2, 1953, in Seattle, Washington, he was the son of the late Fred Payton and the late Geraldine Bull. Paul is also preceded in death by his brothers, Jodi Watts, Kevin Watts and Ronnie Watts; and sisters, Sharon Gold, Jennifer Gamble and Denise Thompson.

Paul was born in Seattle, Washington and then spent some time in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska with his family. He loved music and enjoyed listening to his mother play in church. Paul eventually moved to Maryland before moving back to Washington where he built his own home. He loved having people around and taking care of everybody.

Survivors include his children, Paul Payton, Janet Payton, Jacob Payton, Eric Payton and Dawn Frey; stepchildren, Sarah Frey and Alyssa Frey; grandchildren, Aubrey Bobo, Griffin Bobo, Payton Bobo, Ryan Wade, Walter Payton, Sophia Payton, and Elaine Payton; great granddaughter, Paisley Bobo; brothers, Chris Watts and Charles Watts; and sister, Shelly Kindred.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Willard officiating.
