Mrs. Pauline Dyer, age 90, of Rome, GA, died Friday evening in a Rome nursing facility following an extended illness.Mrs. Dyer was born in Floyd County, September 27, 1913, daughter of the late William Alfred and Stella Mae Carter Garlin and had spent her entire life in Rome and Floyd County. She was associated with Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital as a Foster Grandparent and a Senior Companion. She was a member of the Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church. She was married to the late James Homer Dyer who preceded her in death January 26, 1991, and by two brothers, Oscar and Z. T. Garlin, and a grandson Jimmy Freeman.Survivors include three daughters and sons in law; Willie Belle & Millard Freeman of Adairsville, GA, Emma & Jesse Baugh of Rome, GA, and Peggy Rainey of Calhoun, GA, a son and daughter in law, J.H. & Joann Dyer of Atlanta, GA, one sister, Inez Kelley of Cave Spring, GA, three brothers; J.C. Garlin of Adairsville, GA, William Alfred Garlin, Jr., of California, and Henley Garlin of Calhoun, GA, eight grandchildren, five great grandsons, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline Dyer will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 24, 2004 in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Willard Willis and Rev. Mike Studdard officiating. Interment will follow in the Salmon Cemetery.Mrs. Dyer will remain at the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday from 6-9 PM.
