Mrs. Rachel Barnette, 82, of Cartersville died peacefully at her residence on Thursday, June 30, 2011. She was born February, 6, 1929 in Bartow County and was the sixth child born to the late Talmadge Bailey and the Late Bertie McEver Bailey. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, David and Paul Bailey; her sisters, Rhetta Bailey Nunnally and Sara Elizabeth Bailey.
Rachel attended Cassville School and was employed by EZ Mills, later known as Spring City Knitting, until retirement. She was President of the EZ Retirement Club until her health failed. One of Rachel�s favorite sayings and verses in the Bible was, �To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under Heaven�.
She is survived by R. Gene Barnette to whom she married on March 20, 1954 and was blessed with two children Debbie Gaines Grooms and Glenn Barnette and wife, Cindy; five grandchildren, Tina Coffey, Breanne Pettepher and husband, Eric, Crystal Zimmermann and husband, Max , Robert Grooms and wife, Ashley, and Jake Barnette; and three great grandchildren, Ashlynn Grooms, Christian Grooms and Bailey Pettepher; her sisters, Connie Ingram of Cartersville and Annie Ruth Davis of Spruce Pine, North Carolina; her sister-in-law, Bertha Bailey of Cartersville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:p.m., Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Clinton Green officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Ingram, James and Barry Bailey, Eddie Holcomb, Robert Grooms and Jake Barnette.
The family received friends from 5 � 8 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Carterville on Saturday.
