Rachel Tidwell Self, age 85, of Cartersville, Georgia, received her angel wings on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in Rome, Georgia.

Born on August 7, 1938, in Cartersville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Edward & Nettie Tidwell. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband Ralph N. Self.

Rachel is survived by her daughters, Diane Wyatt (Brad) and Jan Knight (Stan); a bonus daughter, Latrica Hightower Cochran (Robert); her grandchildren, John Brian Golden, Shanna Leanne Beesler (Matt), and Nathan Wyatt (Shannon); as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Rachel was a loving wife, devoted mother, caring maw-maw, and a nurturing nanny. She adored being around children and young adults both at home and in the school system and offered guidance to all youth she came into contact with. She was also a devout Christian, prayer warrior, and a member of Northside Methodist Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Pastor James DeKoker and Chris Allred officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Renee Keeney, Jeff Williams, Chris Self, and Nathan Wyatt.
