Mr. Ray Burton Lofty, Jr., 72, of Blairsville, formerly of Cartersville passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Piedmont Mountainside in Jasper.

Born on November 2, 1941 in South Pittsburg, Tennessee he was the son of the late Ray Lofty, Sr. and the late Lillian Ables Lofty. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Lofty and Ricky Lofty. Ray served his country in the United States Navy and was a painter until his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Ray loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting. His favorite phrase was "Yeah Buddy."

Survivors include his wife, Linda Smith Lofty; his son, Dennis Lofty (Denise); his daughter, Judy Lofty (Bret McCollister); his special sons, Billy Lienhop III and Roy Smith; his granddaughters, Christy Lofty, Katy Lofty, Josie Tanner, Candice Lofty, Kaitlin Romines, Megan Barron and Morgan Barron; his great grandchildren, Kaley Lofty and Macey Lofty; his special daughters, Val Thomaston and Kimberly Riseden; his sisters, Reba Smith (Earl) and Robbie Hayes (Richard); his brother, Ronald Lofty (Brenda); and a host of special nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Robbinsville, North Carolina.
