Ray Lee Wimpy, 60, of Fairmount, died Saturday, January 2, 20l0 at his residence. Born May 8, 1949 in Blue Ridge, he was the son of the late James Howard Wimpy and Bea Ivalee Watson Wimpy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chris Wimpy; and his brother, Marvin Wimpy.
Ray was a self-employed contractor and operated Ray Wimpy Contracting. He enjoyed his job and working, but he also enjoyed working in his yard, taking care of his koi pond, and collecting antiques and signs.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Wimpy of Fairmount; his sons and daughter-in-law, Raymond Wimpy Jr., Rodney Wimpy, Justin and Joy Wimpy, and Bradley Wimpy, all of Cartersville; his step-children, Lindsey Turner and Austin Turner, both of Fairmount; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brothers, Glenn Wimpy and Randy Wimpy, both of Cartersville; his sister, Barbara Schroeder of Cartersville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A memorial service will begin at 8 p.m. with Rev. Charles Moore officiating. The family will also receive friends following the service.
