Raymond Hammock

February 4, 1935 — May 27, 2020

Reverend Raymond Earl Hammock died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, in Cartersville, Georgia on May 27, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jace and Lucille Hammock; brother, Roy (Joan); sisters, Doris Moncus (Lawrence), Dorothy Moon (Frank) and Lillian Wallace (George). He is survived by his wife of 63 years Imogene Williams Hammock; son, Mark (Patrick); daughter, Susan Kennedy (Steve); grandchildren, Sharon Early (Matthew), Kimberly Jefferson (Joseph); great grandchildren, Mellie and Michelle Early and Kaison and Chandler Jefferson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Reverend Hammock was born February 4, 1935 in Lanett, Alabama and received his Theology degree from Tennessee Temple Baptist Bible College in 1975. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Theology from Temple Baptist Bible College in 2006. He served in the ministry at numerous Baptist churches across Georgia, Florida and Alabama for over 45 years. He Loved the Lord and sought to serve him daily.

He loved his country and served in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. He left the service with a rank of Dental Technician, Third Class. He received the Korean Defense Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Korean Service Medal, The United Nations Korean Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Reverend Hammock loved spending time with his family, building bird houses and working in the yard.

Parnick Jennings Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 29, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Reverend Milton Ker. Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Hartsfield, Joe Jefferson, Matthew Early, Steve Gray, Jimmy Little and Jerry Price. Reverend Hammock will be interred at a private ceremony at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

Due to continuing Covid restrictions visitations will be limited to 10 people at a time and social distancing will be practiced.
