Mrs. Rebecca Elizabeth Astin, age 79, of 245 Second Street Shannon, GA, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006, in a local hospital.Mrs. Astin was born in Bartow County on September 3, 1926, the daughter of the late Nunley Eugene and Edna Lee Gann Ingram. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Astin was a homemaker and prior was employed with Champion Garment. She loved her Pekingese, Sweet Pea, flowers, joking around, and watching television. In addition to her parents Mrs. Astin was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Astin, and two brothers, John and Clifford Ingram.Mrs. Astin is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Leneer and Polly Astin of Rome, GA; two daughters, Sheila Reeves and her husband, Michael of Shannon, GA, and Debbie Miller and her fiancee, Mark Toles of Armuchee, GA; four grandchildren, Jim Bridges of Rome, GA, Brandi Miller of Norcross, GA, Tonya Astin of Rome, and Anna Astin of Athens, GA; two great grandchildren, Megan and Chandler Bridges both of Rome, GA; and one sister, Louise Byrd of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with the Dr. Ralph Jenkins officiating.
