Rev. Donald Lee Thomas, 67, of Cartersville, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Kathy Cares Hospice. Born in Blount County on June 28, 1945, he was the son of the late L.H. Thomas and the late Inez Stone Thomas. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Pat Thomas; and his daughter, Sherry Thomas.
Rev. Thomas was a member and former pastor of Park Street Baptist along with many churches in Alabama. He was also a member of the Arab Masonic Lodge in Arab, Al. and a retired self-employed contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Rascke Thomas; his daughters and sons-in-law, Tara D. and Scott Ridley of Cartersville and Angela and Shane Fields of Cartersville; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Bradford Thomas and wife, Lee of Cartersville, James and Jerry Thomas of Cartersville, Kenny and Sandy Thomas of Arab, Al.; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay and David Summey of Cartersville and Jean and Chris Weathers of Cumming; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his step-children, Kaitlyn Reynolds, Lexus Reynolds and Julia Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Park Street Baptist Church with Reverend Daniel Latham, Reverend David Summey and Reverend Casey Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
