Richard "Rick" Bedell, a beloved resident of Cartersville, GA, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the age of 81. Born in Marysville, Michigan, on September 5, 1944, Richard's life was marked by dedication to family, community, and service.
Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret Bedell, and his loving son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sherrie Bedell and their children Joseph and Anna and his daughter Lisa and son-in-law Mark Burns and their daughters Rachel and Kate. He was a proud grandfather to Rachel, Kate, Joseph, and Anna, who brought immense joy to his life. Rick's surviving siblings include his sister, Myrna, and his brother, David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne and Genevieve Bedell, his former wife Norma Jean Bedell, his sister Elaine Bedell, and his sister-in-law, Eileen Bedell.
A self-employed builder, Rick spent his career constructing homes throughout Cobb, Bartow, and Cherokee counties, leaving a legacy of quality and care in every structure he built. His work enriched the lives of countless families, and his commitment to excellence was widely recognized.
Rick was an active member of Faith Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and Finance Chairman. His faith and dedication to the church community were inspiring and steadfast. He was also a former cherished member of the Optimist Club and the Cartersville Country Club, where he made friendships that lasted a lifetime.
In honoring Rick's memory, the family kindly suggests donations to be made to Manna Pantry and Backpack Buddies at Faith Methodist Church, causes that were close to his heart.
Arrangements have been provided by Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A memorial service will be held at Faith Methodist Church at 501 Grassdale on Saturday February 21 at 2:00 pm with visitation at 1:00 pm where family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of a man whose kindness and integrity touched many.
Richard "Rick" Bedell's legacy of love, commitment, and community service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
