Mr. Richard "Buddy" Davenport, 72, of Kingston, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at his residence. Born in Calhoun on May 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Alden Clay Davenport and the late Bessie Gravitt Davenport.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Davenport and a sister, Jerry Maxine Edwards. Buddy was a retired Security Supervisor who worked exclusively for Glad Manufacturing and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He loved to go camping, fishing, and to work on old tractors. He was very generous and giving of his time, always putting others first and never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Jeanette Fowler Davenport of Kingston; his sons and daughter-in-law, Eddie Davenport (Yvonne) and Michael Davenport all of Kingston; his grandchildren, Retired Seargent Richard Davenport (Erin) of Rome, Briana, Caleb and Hannah Davenport all of Kingston; his great-grandchildren, Kendell and Kameron Davenport both of Rome; and his sisters, Barbara Crumbly and Audrey Pickel both of Cartersville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Jackie Culberson, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Kingston. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Griffin, Scott Flowers, Mark Flowers, Kyle Pickel, Shane Pickel and Josh Penson. Dan Griffin will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
