Richard Gilreath

January 19, 1951 — October 8, 2021

Richard Gilreath, age 70, of Cartersville, passed away suddenly October 8th 2021. Richard was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He married his high school sweetheart, Faye Hufstetler, in 1969, and they enjoyed 52 wonderful years together. Richard was a dreamer and a doer. His thirst for knowledge led him into many artistic and scientific pursuits. He was an ingenious inventor, always entertaining friends and family with his next big project. He loved to be outdoors. He and his wife fulfilled his dream of building a log cabin using trees he felled himself from their property. There was nothing he couldn't fix or build.

He was smart, kind, gentle, funny. His sly grin and raised eyebrow were a fixture in any conversation. He had one daughter, Valerie, and one daughter-in-spirit, Michelle, whom he cherished. All who knew him recognized that he was an exceptional man. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Gilreath, and mother, Myrtle Smallwood Gilreath. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Faye; his daughters: Valerie Gilreath (Kim), Michelle Jenn (Joey); sisters: Mary Edith (Jim) Palmer, Trudie (Bobby) Vernon, Patricia (Mike) Sheffield, Margaret Anita (Terry) Phillips; 22 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and -nephews, and many loving extended family members and friends.

A memorial service for Mr. Richard Gilreath will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 477 Old Cassville White Rd, NW, Cartersville, GA 30121, at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 followed by a potluck reception.

Due to the fragile health of some attendees, face masks that cover both your mouth and noise are required and will be provided for anyone who needs it. Thank you for understanding.
