Mr. Richard "Dickie" Ephriam Moss, 69, of Cartersville, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at Cartersville Medical Center. A native of Bartow County born March 27, 1943, he was the son of the late Ephriam Moss and the late Louise Greene Moss.
Dickie, as he was known to many people, was a second generation of fire fighters. He had a large collection of old fire service memorabilia, loved fire service and the Cartersville Fire Department where he spent 28 years of his life serving the people of Bartow County. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and also enjoyed watching old movies in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Moss of Cartersville; his daughters, Mary Lynn Abernathy of Simpsonville, SC and Christel Carroll of Cartersville; his sister, Margaret Treadway of Tifton; four grandchildren, Nancy Cross of Pinebluff, TN, Ryan Abernathy of Simpsonville, SC, Eric Carroll and Jeremy Carroll both of Cartersville; and his step-father, Oliver Smith of Cartersville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Charles Moore, Reverend Ronnie Cowart and Michael Scoggins officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made in memory of Dickie to the Central Baptist Church, 424 Cassville Road, Cartersville, Ga. 30120.
The Cartersville Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
