Rev. Richard N. Robertson, 83, of Cartersville died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Floyd Hospital in Rome. He was born March 4, 1930 in Talladega, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Catherine Robertson, his brother, Sydney, and his first wife of 31 years, Mary C. Robertson.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Alice Willingham Kelly Robertson, of Columbus; his daughter, Catherine Mathia (husband Joe) of Dallas, Texas; sons Richard Robertson of Dallas, Texas, and Ray Robertson (wife Marina) of Cartersville; step brother David Robertson of Birmingham; and four grandchildren: Hallie Elizabeth Mathia, Mary Catherine Robertson, Cloe Rebecca Mathia, and Richard Daniel Robertson.
Rev. Robertson was a graduate of Duke Divinity School and served as a United Methodist Minister and pastoral counselor. He was founder and long-time director of the Columbus Pastoral Institute, and instrumental in advocacy for marriage enrichment, counseling training for clergy, and help for clergy in crisis.
A celebration of life for Rev. Robertson was held Monday, March 11, at Heritage Baptist Church, led by Rev. Michael Tutterow and church staff.
