Robert Burgess Jr., 80, of Dallas passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at his residence. Born November 20, 1929 in Lindale, he was the only child of the late Robert Burgess Sr. and the late Fannie Mae Reid Burgess. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Justus; his brothers-in-law, George White and C.B. Hyde; his niece, Lisa Culpepper; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Bessie Jacobs.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a shift manager from Carlings Brewing Co., and he was a member of Mt. Paran Church of God. Robert loved fishing and woodworking. He was very jovial, was always in motion, and loved to work in his garden.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Bettye Jacobs Burgess; his daughters, Kim Justus and Vicki Daniel, both of Dallas; his grandson, Chip Patton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
