Robert Chastain

Mr. Robert Nolan Chastain, 74, of Taylorsville, died Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at his residence.

Born February 20, 1945 in Marietta, he was a son of the late Robert Gordan Chastain and the late Lottie Estelle Swafford Chastain. Mr. Chastain was a member of Browns Chapel Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved playing his guitar and singing and was inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. He also loved gardening, fishing, and hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Helms; two brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ethel Chastain; daughter, Lisa Satcher and her husband Johnny of Taylorsville; son, Bobby Chastain and his wife Glenda of Dallas; sisters, Lucy Auchmutey of Woodstock, Laura Goss of Griffin, and Betty Eubanks Jones of White; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Alton Williams and The Reverend Jimmy Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Taylorsville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
