Mr. Robert Joe "Bobby" Cross, Sr., age 66, of 9 Kris Drive, Rome, GA, died Friday, July7, 2006, following a brief illness.Mr. Cross was born in Bradley County, TN, on January 19, 1940, the son of the late Mattie Lucille Gunter Hardy, his biological father, Robert Ramsey Cross, and the father who raised him, William Charles Hardy. He was a graduate of Model High School and a member of the North Rome Church of God. Prior to retirement in 2002, Mr. Cross was associated with Pharr Yarn/Mohawk Carpets, retiring as Superintendent. At the time of his death he was co-owner of Toddlers Inn Childcare and Winthrop Academy Rome and Armuchee. Mr. Cross was a golf enthusiast, a member of the Horseleg Plantation Country Club and a member of the former Indian Ridge Golf Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Imogene Morrison, and a brother, William Hardy.Mr. Cross is survived by his wife, Ruby Annette Oswalt Cross, to whom he was married on December 22, 1962; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and John Potts; one son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Shannon Cross; seven grandchildren, Ashley Cross, Tyler Hauser, Karalee Hauser, Jace Potts, Caroline Cross, Taylor Potts and Austin Potts. A dear friend, Jo Snowden, and a host of Daycare Children whom he loved so much also survive.Funeral services for Mr. Cross will be held on Monday morning at 10 a.m. in the North Rome Church of God with Rev. W. A. Bingham, Rev. Ron Carver, Rev. Harold Jones and Rev. Bert Brooks (graveside) officiating. Entombment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 6 until 9 p.m. in the North Rome Church of God.
