Mr. Robert Lee Daniel "R.L." Darn, age 82, of 81 Herring Road, Armuchee, GA, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005, in a local hospital.A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mr. Darn was born on July 25, 1923, the son of the late Eugene Darn and Bessie Morris Darn Bohannon. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of his life and attended the Armuchee Church of God. Prior to retirement in 1980, Mr. Darn had been a truck driver with Carolina Freight for a number of years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. Mr. Darn enjoyed camping, working on lawn mowers and watching old western movies. He loved his family and enjoyed listening to gospel music. In addition to his parents, Mr. Darn was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Ledbetter Darn. A brother, Carlton Martin, also preceded him in death.Mr. Darn is survived by his wife, Charlotte Bennett Darn, to whom he was married on August 30, 1979; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sheila and Carl Baldwin if Rome, Donna Darn of Calhoun, GA, and Linda Burgee of Armuchee; a step-daughter, Karen Willingham and her husband, Steve, of Armuchee; a step-son, Darrell Garmany and his wife, Shareen, of Rome; two special nephews, Steve and David Reid; nine grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Dale Fogleman of Rome.Funeral services for Mr. Darn will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Rayford Davenport and Rev Charles Izell officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.Mr. Darn will lay in-0state in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Thursday) evening from 6 until 8 p.m.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday by 1:30 p.m. and include Lannie Bishop, Ricky Ledbetter, Larry Reid, Gary Reid, Darrell Garmany and Dale Fogleman.
