Robert Verdell Finnemore, 90, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at his residence.
Bob was born on November 26, 1932, in Caswell, Maine, he is the son of the late Floyd Finnemore and Mattie Finnemore. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Bill Finnemore, Fred Finnemore, Jim Finnemore, Tim Finnemore.
He is survived by his by wife of 43 years, Brenda Finnemore; his children Justin (Holly) Finnemore, Ashley Finnemore, Priscilla Finnemore, Steve Finnemore; grandchildren Hadley, Jack, Caroline, Maggie, Joseph, Seth, Autumn, and Victoria; sisters, Nancy McLaughin, Priscilla (Paul) Nichols; brothers-in-law Rocky (Kay) Ponders and Mike (Sherri) Ponders; sister-in-law Kathy Finnemore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob attended Limestone Maine High School then he went on to University of Maine, graduating in 1953. After graduation he farmed potatoes for the next 3 years. He entered the Army in January of 1954 and served util 1956. In 1956 he worked at Ferndale Dairy in Kensington, CT until 1963. 1963 - 1966 worked at JC Penny in Waterbury, CT. 1966 started working at Stanley Tools until he was declared disabled in 1990. In 1990 was the President of the Lions Club in Cartersville, GA and also was President of the Cartersville High School Touchdown Club and Cass High School Touchdown Club. Bob was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 37 years and held many positions at the church. One position he enjoyed the most was cooking for Wednesday night suppers, youth breakfasts and fundraiser programs.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Sam Jones Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sam Jones Methodist Church prior to the service. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Robert's Life from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Cartersville Country Club.
