Robert Gordy

Mr. Robert Harold Gordy, 72, of Calhoun, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at Calhoun Health Care Center. A native of Bartow County, Harold was born October 2, 1940, son to the late William J. Gordy and the late Jewell Futral Gordy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Ray Gordy and a brother-in-law, J.B. Bearden.
Mr. Gordy was a potter and a naturalist. He was a 1958 graduate of Cass High School and a member of Cassville Baptist Church. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Saratoga.
Survivors include his sister, Grace Bearden of Calhoun; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Dwight Adams of Gainesville, Florida, and Betty and Terry Williamson of Rome, Georgia.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Mr. Gary Futral officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth. The family will receive friends on Thursday for one hour prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Adams, Brice Bearden, Scott Brown, Ronnie Futral, Ronald Gordy and Russell Gordy. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday.
