Robert Mauney, Sr.

February 25, 1931 — July 18, 2010

Robert Edward Mauney, Sr., 79, of Cartersville passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 18, 2010 after an extended illness. Born February 25, 1931, he was a native of Shelby, North Carolina. Preceding him in death are his father and mother, Ralph Theodore Mauney and Lillie Mae Mauney; and a brother, Ralph Mauney, Jr.



As a proud veteran of the United States Armed Forces, Bob served in the Army 1st Infantry Division, 32nd Field Artillery Battalion during the end of the Korean Conflict. Bob served as manager of Paga Mining Company, a division of Thompson-Weinman & Company, and retired from Dellinger Management Company in Cartersville.



Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr and Karon Mauney of Cartersville and Stephen Mauney of Cartersville; his daughters, Melinda Mauney of Kennesaw and Elizabeth Law of Cartersville; his brother, Bill Mauney of Shelby, North Carolina; his sister, Jane Small of Charleston, South Carolina; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer Mauney, Katie Mauney, Joshua Mauney, Ginny Mauney, Ben Mauney, Sam Mauney, and Maggie Law.



A graveside service will be conducted at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff at Omega Heath Care for their kindness and support.
