Robert Southerland

Mr. Robert Lee Southerland, 78, of Cartersville, died Wednesday, February 08, 2012 at a local nursing home. Born in Pine Log, Georgia, July 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Pola Southerland and the late Lola Holt Southerland. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna Southerland; his brothers, Wayne, Sonny and Olen Southerland; and his sister, Elaine Adams.



Mr. Southerland was of the Baptist Faith and was worked as a carpenter most of his adult life. He saw battle while serving his country during the Korean War as part of the 82nd Airborne in the United States Army.



Survivors include his children, Jane Southerland, Jim Southerland, Michael Southerland and wife Pam and Suzanne Southerland; six grandsons, Taylor, Trent and wife, Becky, Ian, Ira, Dillon and Tanner Southerland; one granddaughter, Taci; two great grandsons, Michael and Matthew; one great-granddaughter, Amelia; his sisters, Rachel Taylor of Summerville, Betty Denmark of Cartersville, Cleo and Harold Woodring of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Eileen and Clyde Freeman of Rossville; and his daughter-in-law, Terrie Southerland.



Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Mr. Bobby Gayton officiating. Interment will follow in Salacoa Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairmount.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
