Rodney Cornell Coalson, age 41, formerly of Cartersville, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 in Big Lake, Alaska from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Cartersville on November 22, 1967, he was the son of Elaine Ferguson of Beulah, Colorado and Larry Coalson of Cartersville. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Harry and Doris Fowler and Maurice E. Coalson.
Rodney enjoyed singing, camping, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed working on cars. He was a member of Atco Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lesa T. Coalson of Lawrenceville, Georgia; his son, Tait Cornell Coalson of Lawrenceville, Georgia; his mother and stepfather, Elaine and Jack Ferguson of Beulah, Colorado; his father Larry Coalson of Cartersville; his sisters, Rebecca Coalson of Pueblo, Colorado and Brandolyn Ferguson of Beulah, Colorado; his paternal grandmother, Ruth Coalson of Cartersville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Dr. Joseph Ringwalt officiating. Interment will follow in Emerson Cemetery, Emerson, Ga. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Wilkinson, Patrick Burns, James Basso, David Taylor, Jack Ferguson, Randy Burns, Robbie Holmes, and Brad Greene. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Colin Tait and Scott Tait.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
