Mr. Roger D. Aycock, died at his home in Rome, GA, at 6:30am, Monday, April 5, 2004.Mr. Aycock was born in Floyd County, December 6, 1914, son of the late D.N. and Frances Whi.te Aycock and had spent his entire life in Rome and Floyd County. He attended the Rome City Schools and graduated with the class of 1932. During WW II, he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp and was a life member of the Shanklin –Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion and served as Adjutant for many years. He was a letter carrier in Rome for 23 years and is a life member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. For several years he was associated with the Rome News Tribune. He was a member of the Rome Area Writers and the Georgia Mountain Music Club. For many years he was associated with the Rome Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of the Beech Creek United Methodist Church.Mr. Aycock will be remembered as the author of "All Roads to Rome" and for science fiction written under pseudonym of Roger Dee during the 1950's, which Rome area writers is preparing for publication in anthology.He was married, January 5, 1937 to the former Miss Imogene Johnson who preceded him in death Novmber 23, 2001. Two sisters; Mrs. Frona Johnson and Mrs. Susan Corbett and a brother, Albert Aycock preceded Mr. Aycock in death.Mr. Aycock is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Aycock Blanton of Rome, nieces; Tommy Johnson Keith of South Park, Colorado, Sally Johnson Pace of Rome, Lilly Aycock Pagura of Warner Robbins, GA, Dora Aycock Brown of Simpsonville, SC, Marilyn Blanton Campbell of Mentone, AL, Jane Blanton of Lincolnton, NC, Dana Evans Lane of Linden, AL, nephews; Dan Blanton and Ted Aycock of Rome, Leland Drummond of Palm Springs, CA, and Robert Corbett of Spring City, Utah and David Evans of Acworth, GA, Funeral services for Mr. Roger D.
