Roger Purvis

October 22, 1959 — February 12, 2009

Roger �Baby Boy� Purvis, 49, of Cartersville passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at his residence after a brief battle with cancer. Born October 22, 1959 in Macon, he had lived in Cartersville most of his life.



Roger had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He loved dancing and fishing, and he collected rocks and arrowheads. Roger was a waiter and had worked at restaurants and bars in the area including the former Governor�s in Rome and Doug�s Place.



Survivors include his mother, Betty Purvis of Cartersville; his brothers and sisters, Gary Purvis of Cartersville, Wayne Purvis of Rockmart, Marilyn Campbell of Cartersville, Terry Purvis of Forsyth, Sandra Sealock of Rome, and Lynn Ashley of Rome; his uncles, Robert Nation of Cumming, Tommy Nation of Stockbridge, and Johnny Nation of Cartersville; his aunts, Martha Money of Warner Robins, Mary Flowers of Jasper, Sue Mitchell of Gainesville, and Christine Doakes of Monroe; his best friends, Jan and Sammy Wade of Cartersville and Carol Cole of Cartersville; and a number of nieces and nephews.



Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to assist the family with funeral expenses.
