Roland Edward "Ed" Harden August 22, 1949 – July 13, 2025 Roland Edward "Ed" Harden, of Cartersville, GA, passed away peacefully, grateful for a life he often described as "getting paid to have fun." Born in Macon, Georgia, Ed spent his early years across several states before settling in Warner Robins, where he graduated high school. He played baseball at Georgia Southern University and earned a masters in education and certifications in leadership, chemistry, and math. Ed, known as "Coach" by many, dedicated more than 45 years to teaching and coaching across Georgia, including 15 years in Warner Robins and 19 years at Woodland High School in Cartersville. He taught chemistry and environmental science and coached football, basketball, and baseball. He loved the kids—and they loved him back. In his later decades, Ed made his home near Cartersville, where he was a faithful member of Cassville Baptist Church for over 25 years. He often said, "Not everybody gets paid their entire life for having fun," and he meant it. He made the most of a second chance at love with his wife, Charlotte, whom he cherished for 30 years. As he once said, "Everybody deserves a second chance—even me." He would want it remembered simply: "I was blessed. That's all."
A celebration of life will be held at Cassville Baptist Church this Saturday 7/19/2025 at 10am.
