Mr. Ronald Alan Gibson, age 66, of Rome, GA died on Sunday, May 30, 2010 in a Rome hospital.
Mr. Gibson was born in Atlanta, GA on September 19, 1943, the son of the late Charlie O. Gibson and Lavonia Cranford Gibson. He earned his Eagle Scout in 1957. Mr. Gibson was a graduate of the Gordon Military College, Shorter College and Jacksonville State University with a Master of Education Degree. He taught in the Rome City School System and the Floyd County and Bartow County School Systems for a period of over 25 years. Mr. Gibson was a member of the Second Avenue United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by a son, Giles Cranford Gibson, August 1, 2008.
Survivors include his wife of forty years Margaret Davis Gibson; son and daughter-in-law, Cliff and Michelle Gibson; a daughter, Andrea Gibson-Bowen; grandchildren, Michael Gibson, Maddox Gibson and Reese Bowen.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Second Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom McElroy officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 in the Heritage Chapel.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the Second Avenue United Methodist Church on Wednesday by 12:30 P.M.:
Danny Fricks, Raymond Morales, Randy Embree, Rick Walker, Scottie Edwards, Chuck Delorne, Stan Dawson and Nick Roberson.
