Ronald Holland, 69, formerly of Douglas, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Cartersville Medical Center after a lengthy battle with Parkinson�s Disease. Born December 6, 1939 in Douglas, Alabama, he was the son of the late Virgil Deloach Holland and the late Corine Shelton Holland.
Ronald had lived at Star Manor Assisted Living Center in Cartersville for the past three years. He was a retired farmer, a graduate of Auburn University, and a self-taught accomplished guitar player.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Spright and Jannifer Holland; his nieces and nephews, Billy and Lana Carlson and their son, Jamie, and Jody and Jacqelyn Ray and their daughters, Julia and Joannah; several cousins; and his Star Manor family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. EST, Saturday in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Don Hazel officiating. Funeral services will also be conducted at 3:00 p.m. CST, Saturday at Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Douglas, Alabama with Elder Ricky Harcrow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Frachiseur, Johnny Cook, Mike Brown, Lovell Stewart, Frank Crawford, and Jack McCoy.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 7 p.m. Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Ronald will also lie in state at Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Douglas, Alabama from 1:30 � 3 p.m. Saturday.
