Mrs. Rosa "Rosie" Bell Popham Cochran, 83, of 10 Defender St., Cartersville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 4, 2007. Born on November 3, 1924 in Taylorsville, she was the daughter of the late Jasper Freeman Popham and the late Lizzy Pauline Wilkerson. Rosa had retired from Spring City Mills and was a member of Atco Baptist Church. She loved her grandchildren and was a very humble, sacrificial person who never had a bad word for anyone. Rosa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Cochran; her infant granddaughters, Shana and Erin Cochran; her sisters, Lucile Blalock and Stella Davis; and her brother, Buddy Popham.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Gail Cochran of Cartersville and Tim and Lynn Cochran of Perry; her grandchildren, Bryan and Betsy Cochran of Augusta, Meridith and Corey Childers of Cartersville, and Russ and Sonal Cochran of Atlanta; her great-grandchild, Dylan Childers; her sister, Gladys Lanier of Taylorsville; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Rosa's life and home going will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Atco Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Hamrick and Rev. Marc Curlee officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Russ Cochran, Bryan Cochran, Garry Cochran, Michael Blalock, Kenneth Davis, and Larry Lanier. Pallbearers are requested to be at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Thursday.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, in care of Atco Baptist Church, 20 Parmenter St., Cartersville, GA 30120.
