Roy Wayne Buckner, 83 of Cartersville, passed away on December 31, 2024. He was born in Jasper, Georgia on June 14, 1941 to Clay Buckner and Grace Atkins Buckner. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Inez Buckner; brother, Dallas Buckner; and sister, Dorothy Faye Jenkins.
Wayne never met a stranger. He worked at Lockheed for 36 years where he was instrumental in the construction of the C-5A and C-5B. He was a loyal and faithful member of the Cartersville Masonic Lodge #63. He served his country for four years in the US Army. His motto in life was "sittin' on the front porch watching the world go by."
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah (Charles) King; son Tim (Susan) Buckner; grandchildren Jesse (Marie) King, Clay Buckner, Hannah (Tyler) Hays, and Travis Fuqua; great granddaughter Aurora Hays; sisters Betty Jenkins, Marie Smith, and Donna Sue Neal.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Ronnie Cowart officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
Members of the Cartersville Masonic Lodge will be serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
